Why It Matters

Spring Hill Public Library is more than a building, it’s a vital part of everyday life in our community. It’s where job seekers connect to opportunity, students find quiet places to study, families build early literacy skills, and neighbors gather to learn, share, and grow.
Circulation
More than 365,000 items were borrowed — placing us in the top tier of public libraries in Tennessee.
Engagement
Over 31,000 people attended library programs, from story times to tech workshops.
Access
Visitors turned to the library nearly 73,000 times for access to space, technology, and resources they can trust.
“I went to the library to be in a quiet and distraction-free environment during finals. Not only was it quiet, but I also had all the resources I needed at my fingertips. This library is important because it meets so many needs — educational materials, access to technology, and clubs and classes for all ages.”

The Need
Despite having one of the smallest buildings and fewer staff, Spring Hill Public Library maintains a high level of community engagement and demand.
A larger, future-ready facility will:

Offer space to match community demand
With just 17,000 square feet, Spring Hill’s library is dramatically smaller than other Level V libraries (many of which are over 30,000–45,000 square feet), yet it still serves tens of thousands of visitors each year.

Accommodate high circulation and future growth
With 365,000+ items circulated annually, Spring Hill Public Library ranks third among peer libraries, even with limited space. A new building will ensure continued access to growing collections and more efficient service delivery.

Support the growing reach of programs and services
In one year, the library hosted 690 programs for over 31,000 attendees — proof of its role as an essential community hub. A new facility will allow for more events, larger audiences, and broader community impact.

Meet state standards for staffing, space, and technology
As a Level V library, the standard calls for 15.5 FTE staff — yet Spring Hill currently operates with only 12 FTE and limited tech infrastructure. The new facility will support updated staffing, self-checkouts, and digital access points for a modern library experience.
